Real Estate Broker
Steve Sterken is one of the co-founders of the America's Finest Heroes project.
Steve Sterken had been working as a test lab engineer in Grand Rapids for over 12 years when the company announced they were moving out of state. He was faced with a tough decision to relocate or look elsewhere. Ironically, he had been contemplating a new career —a career that would allow him to help others. Real estate was a natural fit for his personality, as he could easily converse with people, and enjoyed problem solving and leadership roles he held as an engineer. Steve was mentored by an experienced and trusted Realtor, who also happened to be his father-in-law. After several years in the business, Steve recognized the real estate market was changing, and he realized he wanted to make more of a difference both in his community and in relationships with other Realtors. A natural outpouring of those realizations was the creation of his own brokerage, ART Realty, in 2008. Steve continues to focus on those goals of mentoring, giving back to the community, and building the firm through positive and ethical practices. ART Realty was created under the principal of doing real estate differently. In fact the acronym ART stands for Awesome Realty Team. Steve prides himself in helping people finding the home of their dreams, and has developed a reputation for getting results. “When someone has a housing need, most of the time it just takes a little creativity to exceed their needs.” When he isn’t busy helping his clients and staff with their real estate goals, you will find Steve somewhere in the local community. Spending time with his family is a priority, and he loves it. Steve enjoys watching his children play sports and plays sports himself. When he does need to get away, he escapes to the golf course, and when weather permits he spends time with his family at their cottage.
